Administrative Oversight:
The Beverly Girls Travel Basketball program is overseen by Matt Mariano and CO Varnes, who serves as the Program Directors, with assistance from the BGTB Program Board of Directors. All program-wide decisions will be brought to the Program Board for discussion, review, and vote. Additional duties performed by the Program Board include, but are not limited to:
• Practice gym/time scheduling
• Contact with the River Valley League regarding game schedule
• Coordination of referees for games/scrimmages
• Administrative duties; insurance, budget and finance management, contact information management, scheduling, tryouts, custodial fees, coordination of the purchase of team apparel (uniforms, BGTB gear), etc.
• Disciplinary issues with coaches, players, and parents/guardians/caregivers
Tryouts and Cuts:
Tryouts will consist of skill stations, drill work, small side-games, and scrimmages. Players will be evaluated by a committee of coaches (both BGTB and outside evaluators) and assigned a score based on their performance. In addition to their performance during stations, drill work, small side-games, and scrimmages, players will also be evaluated on their overall attitude, coachability, effort level, and work ethic.
Final determinations on the viability of additional teams per grade level will be based on the number of girls at tryouts as well as the skill level of each respective group. All final decisions will be made by the Program Directors and the Beverly Girls Travel Basketball Board of Directors. Making cuts to field competitive teams (in both talent and number of players) remains part of our program's operating procedure. Players will be notified directly if they have made the team or did not make the team, by the Program Director.
Coaches:
Each team has one (1) head coach and up to two (2) assistant coaches. Individuals who are interested in serving as coaches are encouraged to email BeverlyMAGirlsTravelBasketball@gmail.com. All coaches are subject to a CORI/SORI background check prior to the start of the season.
Code of Conduct:
Once teams are formed for the season, all coaches, parents/guardians/caregivers, and players in the BGTB program will be given a "Code of Conduct" that they will be expected to read, understand, sign, and abide by throughout the season. A signed copy will be kept by the Program Board.
